Scouts put their emergency aid skills to the test

Over 80 Scouts recently took part in the annual District emergency aid competition where their knowledge, skills and quick thinking qualities were put to the test. It however wasn’t for the faint hearted as fake blood, wounds and screaming casualties were scattered all the over the place.

Scouts in teams had to take part in a number of dramatic accident scenarios where they had to evaluate the scene and use their eemergency aidmergency aid training to deal with any hazards, assess the casualties involved and then effectively treat them. Scores were given on how effective they were in dealing with the situations.
“The competition was very well attended by Scouts from throughout Preston District” explained Steve Williams (ADC Scouts), “the level of skill the Scouts exhibited in the competition was very impressive and gives confidence that the skills they gain through Scouting could potentially save a life one day”.

The winners of the competition were:
Juniors: 1st Broughton
Seniors: 4th Fulwood

It was a great competition enjoyed by all that took part.
