Scouts winter adventure weekend!

Leap of faith

Leap of faith

Scouts recently enjoyed a weekend of fun and adventure on their annual winter camp in the beautiful Lake District national park. Staying at Great Tower Scout Activity Centre over the weekend of  29th – 31st January, more than 150 Scouts and Leaders from Preston District joined together to what was a brilliant camp.

High adventure activities such as climbing, high ropes, archery and shooting were on offer along with other activities including backwoods cooking, go karts, chariot racing and a rodeo bull. There was even a Tai Kwon Do instructor on site for the weekend teaching many Scouts the arts of Marshall Arts. Fun was had by all!

Sarah a Scout taking part in the weekend said “my favourite activity over the weekend was the leap of faith; you had to climb up a tree onto a platform in the air and then jump for a trapeze. I missed it on my first attempt but got it on my second. I was a bit nervous at first but really proud I did it”.

Talking to Sam he said that the whole weekend was a great experience. “We got to not only to go away with our whole Troop but got to mix and meet Scouts from all over the district, many I knew from School. My favourite activities were the wide game and the campfire on the Saturday night and also the backwoods cooking where we got to make pizzas on a fire”.

The atmosphere of the camp was electric for the whole weekend and everyone came away smiling.

Only 51 weeks to go until next year’s Winter Camp!
