Save the Children

We've received some information from West Lancashire Scouts, for leaders planning next years programme - they have some new material for your attention. Save the Children have worked with the International Team and developed an excellent new resource similar in concept to the Shelterbox programme which so many in West Lancs have adopted this year. The material can be found at www.savethechildren.org.uk/scouts You can pick and choose elements of the resource or use the full resource based on the charities work in India, or work through the full package leading to some form of activity/fundraising which will contribute to the Global Citizen element of every sections Global programme. They have piloted some of the activities with Beaver, and Scout Sections so far and all have proven successful. Explorer Scout and Network material should follow during 2011.
International Commissioner at The Scout Association, Nigel Hailey commends the partnership:
"The Friendship Passport is a fun and imaginative way to deliver the global zone in the programme. We talk about being part of Global Movement – this will really help us to understand another country and also give a real practical meaning to 'helping other people' in our Promise. Have fun with the activities, do let us know how you get on, and tell us about your Friendship Funday – who knows, I may drop in!"
